Who Is Marie-Lou Nurk on Selling Sunset Season 7?

Must read

Following a brief appearance in season 6 of Selling Sunset, Jason Oppenheim’s girlfriend Marie-Lou Nurk takes on a bigger role during season 7. Making it clear that that their relationship was pretty serious (prior to their May 2023 split), Nurk is seen in multiple season 7 episodes, notably causing some drama with Jason’s ex-girlfriend, Chrishell Stause.

But who exactly is Marie-Lou Nurk, and what does she do when she’s not appearing on the Netflix reality sensation?

She’s a model.

First and foremost, Marie-Lou Nurk is a model. During an interview with Grazia, Nurk opened up about how she was first discovered. “So I was asked when I was 16 to model, but I was still in school,” she told the publication. “I didn’t always want to be a model, I wanted to study something and have a different career. So eventually I studied economics.”

After a period of traveling, Nurk returned to modeling, where she continues to carve out a career. “You meet a lot of cool people in the fashion industry, but it’s also something which can make you insecure,” she told Grazia. “You have to take care of what you eat, how you look. It can harm your mental health after a while.”

She lives in Paris and grew up in Germany.

One of the difficulties in Jason Oppenheim and Marie-Lou Nurk’s relationship was the fact that she lived in Paris, France, while he is based in Los Angeles. It seems that Nurk enjoys living in Paris, and savors everything the city has to offer. “I love to go jogging in the Seine,” she told Grazia. “I love to go shopping, of course. Even just going to restaurants and just cafes, all the cafes are super cute in Paris!”

Prior to living in Paris, Nurk was based in Germany, where she grew up and studied. According to LinkedIn, Nurk undertook an undergraduate degree in marketing at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University. “I traveled a lot when I was a child, because my mom was a stewardess and she comes from South Africa,” Nurk told Grazia. “Also when I got older, I was studying and working so I had to move back and forth from Southern Germany to Northern Germany.”

Her Selling Sunset appearance was unexpected.

Despite dating a “celebrity,” Nurk wasn’t necessarily expecting to make an appearance on Selling Sunset. However, when the opportunity arose to make a cameo during season 6, she agreed. “I’ll be seen in season 6 and I’m very excited,” she revealed at the time. “Unfortunately, I couldn’t prepare for it because the production was already planned. But on a reality show, it’s actually better not to think too much about it so it’s not unnatural.” Seemingly, her appearance went well, as Nurk was invited back for a more regular role on season 7.

She’s buddies with Christine Quinn.

Although they never got the chance to appear on Selling Sunset together, Nurk is friendly with Christine Quinn. Speaking to Grazia, Nurk dished, “It’s really funny because Christine Quinn moved to Paris and I’m going to meet her pretty soon. I’m really excited about it, because this is the first time I’m going to see her. We’ll probably just have a little lunch date.” Considering the fact that Nurk didn’t exactly hit it off with Chrishell Stause, it makes sense that she’s become friends with Quinn instead.

Despite her split from Jason Oppenheim, Nurk has also remained in touch with some of the other Selling Sunset cast members. “I’m in contact with Amanza, we text a lot,” she told Grazia. “I’m also in contact with Chelsea and Nicole. They’re really cute.”

Her split from Jason Oppenheim was amicable.

In May 2023, it was announced that Jason Oppenheim and Marie-Lou Nurk had split up after ten months together. In an Instagram Story (reported by People), Oppenheim shared the news, writing, “While we still love and care about each other very much the distance between us has proven to be too great a challenge to overcome.” He continued, “We remain close friends and continue to talk often and support each other and we want the very best for one another.”

Prior to their split, Nurk had elaborated on some of the challenges in their relationship during an Instagram Q&A. “The truth is, we both knew from the beginning that I would have to move back because of my job, friends, and family being here,” she explained. Following the breakup, she told Grazia, “We broke up a couple of days before making it public and it was a really difficult decision I had to take because I was moving back to Paris.” She continued, “I knew I wanted to move back because of my family, friends and my job. It was hard for us at the beginning. We also have different opinions on a few big topics.”

She was linked to a new man in August 2023.

After splitting from Jason Oppenheim, Marie-Lou Nurk shared Instagram photos taken with a new man in Saint Tropez, France in August 2023. The mystery man’s Instagram account identifies him only as “Ronan RL,” while he describes himself as an entrepreneur and CEO. It looks as though Nurk has already moved on.
