Selena Gomez Uses a $478 Serum to Take Off Her Makeup — See Video

Must read

Double cleansing with a cleansing balm and lukewarm water is a great way to remove makeup at the start of your skin-care routine. Once you’ve cleansed, your routine likely consists of one or more facial serums, but did you think that they can also assist in makeup removal? At least, according to Selena Gomez, they do.

On January 5, Gomez ran us through her skin-care routine via TikTok, where she revealed some rather… uh, interesting tips. Namely, the way she starts removing her makeup with a $478 La Mer serum. And before your jaw drops at the Concentrate Serum‘s price point, Gomez says you can achieve the same results with any skin-care serum you have on hand — though Allure recommends sticking to your preferred makeup remover.

With her hair tucked behind a black headband, Gomez presses a dropperful of La Mer’s Concentrate Serum onto her cheek. Because the eye area should be treated with a delicate touch, especially when removing eye makeup, she lightly rubs the serum onto her shadowed lids with her middle finger.

Makeup removal and micellar water go hand-in-hand also. Gomez follows up the serum with the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution (a product that falls under the $20 mark alongside the classic $10 brow product she uses in her beauty routine, too) before revealing another interesting tip for removing stubborn eye makeup: using a miniature beauty sponge soaked in Bioderma to access the stubborn lash lines.

Then, rather than spraying Dermatologica’s Multi-Active Toner directly onto her skin, she sprays the $12 toner onto a round makeup remover puff pad, rubs the pad onto her face with upward strokes, then applies La Mer’s Renewal Oil. She seals in her dewy finish with Tatcha’s Water Cream moisturizer layered with the Laneige Radian-C Cream with Vitamin C

The Rare Beauty founder seems to be well aware that her La Mer makeup removal method comes with a price point that needs its own payment plan if you’re a normal person who makes a normal amount of money. She captions her beauty routine on TikTok by noting, “PSA, I got most of these products free. I ain’t just rolling like that everywhere.” And thank God, because not even Allure editors could keep up with this routine. We’ll be sticking to our micellar water and cleansing balms, but you do you, Sel.
