Florence Pugh is never afraid to take a beauty risk, and that’s what we love about her. She’s buzzed her hair. She’s channeled both Princess Diana and Guy Fieri. She’s bleached her hair, then dyed it pink and “Oppenheimer orange.” And now, the fearless actor is taking us to the year 3000 with her silver metallic eyeliner and looped ponytail combo, which she wore to the New York premiere of her movie Dune: Part Two. Climb aboard the spaceship with us, will ya?
Let’s start with her makeup, created by her go-to makeup artist Alex Babsky. Babsky created bold, graphic wings around Pugh’s entire eye with strips of silver chrome, starting at the inner corner and swooping over her crease to hug the upper eye, with another shiny strip applied directly underneath her lower lashes, extending past her outer corner nearly to her cheekbone. This is basically the definition of statement eyeliner, if you can even call it eyeliner! A simple peachy blush and lip provided a neutral base for the dramatic eye.
Equally futuristic was Pugh’s multi-looped ponytail, created by stylist Evanie Frausto. Pugh’s hair is currently a muted platinum blonde “mixie,” so Frausto added length with a sleek ponytail extension. The hair was gathered right at the center of Pugh’s head, with a section wrapped up and over the base, then tied to the rest of the hair to create in infinite loop, if you will. The ponytail itself extended all the way down to mid-back, swaying as she moved in her backless gray halter gown. The rest of her hair was slicked down, with the front portion subtly waved near her face.
Is this what we’ll be wearing a thousand years from now when we’re living on the moon or another far-off planet? If so, Pugh is way, way, way ahead of the curve, but that’s not exactly a surprise.
