On April 20, 2024, Variety reported that Netflix is set to create a new drama series called Calabasas, with Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts as executive producers alongside I. Marlene King, the creator of Pretty Little Liars.

Kardashian and Roberts previously worked together when they co-starred in American Horror Story: Delicate, so fans are looking forward to seeing the actresses’ work behind the camera.

While the series was just confirmed, most details are still unknown, so ahead is everything we know so far about Netflix’s upcoming release.

When does Calabasas come out?

News of the Netflix series just broke, so fans will have to wait a little while before finding out when Calabasas will drop. It’s unclear if production has begun, and there likely won’t be an anticipated release date until the show starts filming.

What is the plot of Calabasas?

Calabasas is an adaptation of the 2021 book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous by Now by Via Bleidner. It’s a collection of true stories about Bleidner’s experience transferring to the glamorous Calabasas High School after attending a Catholic school her whole life, and the culture shock and societal pressures that she faces.

Who will be in the cast?

As of April 2024, all details remain under wraps, but, per the above Variety article, we do know that Kardashian, Roberts, and King will serve as executive producers on the show. According to Deadline, King will also act as the writer and showrunner.

Other EP credits include Lauren Wagner with Long Lake Media; Roberts, Karah Preiss, and Matt Matruski with Belletrist Productions; and Alexandra Milchan.
