Channing Tatum has proven time and time again just how much he loves his 10-year-old daughter, Everly. Case in point: On Saturday, February 10, the actor took her to the premiere of the new anime movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training in New York City. To make it all even sweeter, Tatum and Everly were dressed up as characters from the film.
Tatum wore a green and black checkerboard-print sweatshirt inspired by the main character, Tanjiro Kamado. Everly was dressed up as Shinobu Kocho with a black and purple wig, the character’s signature butterfly-wing haori (a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono), and matching pants. She beamed as she smiled for photos on the red carpet with her dad.
On May 30, 2023, Tatum made an appearance on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna to talk about his newest children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella and the Big Lie, and how those books helped him as a parent.

Hoda Kotb asked Tatum what kind of parent he is, and he replied, “I have no idea, I don’t know. I’m just trying to get by. I think like every other parent. You’re just trying not to mess your kids up. But you know you’re going to.”
“When I knew I was going to have a kid, I was like, ‘Alright, I’m probably going to be the parent—I plan to be the parent—who was probably going to get her in more trouble than I kept her out of,’” he added. “And then as they kind of get older, you start to realize, ‘Oh, I have to set boundaries.’”
“And weirdly, kids, even though they don’t want boundaries, they do want boundaries. Her anxiety goes down, her stress level goes down when she just understands the rules,” Tatum said about Everly. “And they’re not even your rules, we call them the house rules.”
In May 2022, Variety reported that Tatum would be starring in the film adaptation of The One and Only Sparkella, which is set at MGM but does not yet have an official title. In a June 2023 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tatum revealed that the movie is still very early in development, and is still in need of a director. They do, however, have a script. Tatum also hopes to create an animated TV series.
